Permanent Make-Up FAQ – Lips
What is a Lip Blush?
Lip Blush is a form of semi-permanent make-up for the lips, applied through micropigmentation. Pigment is applied using pixels, which gives the lips a natural effect. You can choose a Lip Blush that is fully coloured in, or one with an ombré effect fading inwards. We discuss all your wishes and of course advise you on all the options before the treatment starts.
Who is permanent make-up suitable for?
PMU is suitable for all skin types and all kinds of lips — greasy, dry, oil-rich, large pores and small pores. For anyone who wants anything from natural lips to a fairly bold, strong make-up look. IZZI Beauty looks at and discusses all your wishes before we start a treatment. Everyone is unique, and we like to honour that by placing a truly personal, perfect Lip Blush for each individual.
What is the minimum age for PMU?
The minimum age for permanent make-up is 17, in which case one parent must accompany you to the treatment. Over 18 you may decide about the treatment yourself.
Is a Lip Blush treatment painful?
The Lip Blush treatment is experienced as very mild pain. A few people find the first layer sensitive. A numbing cream is used, so you feel virtually nothing.
What is the aftercare for Lip Blush?
Aftercare is always discussed with you right at the treatment and sent by email afterwards. For the first 7 days you must avoid sun, sauna and swimming pools. For the first 4 hours after the treatment you should not eat spicy or salty food. You must also not scratch the flaking skin during the healing process. Apply the aftercare cream we provide to your lips throughout the day.
When should I come back for a touch-up?
You return after 6–8 weeks for a touch-up. During a touch-up treatment we can make the shape a little crisper and the colour darker, more intense or warmer. We can also give the lips more of a powder effect with extra pixels. The touch-up treatment is always included in the price of the first treatment. The touch-up treatment must, however, be done within 9 weeks at the latest; otherwise we are obliged to charge from € 50.00. That is because after 8 to 9 weeks the pigment fades more strongly and we need more time to treat optimally during the touch-up.
How is the pigment colour determined?
We have a very wide range of pigments. We do provide advice on the choice of the final pigment, and IZZI Brows does not deviate far from that advice, because a lot of knowledge goes into choosing a pigment. If the advised pigment does not match your wish as a client, we may not be able to carry out the treatment. We only work in an extremely safe and correct way, with an optimal long-term result. We ourselves know how each pigment colour heals. We ask you to save and show us a few photos to give us an impression of what you like.
Is IZZI Beauty GGD-approved?
Of course! IZZI Beauty is officially GGD-approved (Dutch Municipal Health Service).
Can you have PMU done while pregnant?
You may not undergo a permanent make-up treatment while pregnant. This is because hormones make pigment take less well in the skin. In addition, and this is the main reason, if an infection occurs you cannot take antibiotics because of the pregnancy.
I have fillers, can I still have PMU done?
This is possible, but there must be 2 weeks between the last filler treatment and placing permanent make-up.
What if I have ever had a cold sore?
We strongly recommend starting with 1 tablet (not liquid form) of L-Lysine the day before your Lip Blush treatment starts. You should continue taking these tablets until 4 days after the Lip Blush treatment. L-Lysine is a product that strongly suppresses the chance of a cold sore. A cold sore / active infection simply prevents the Lip Blush treatment from healing optimally. The major risk is that the Lip Blush colour becomes patchy at the site of the cold sore or that the lip skin is severely damaged. If you have had a cold sore / herpes virus on the lips in the past and do not take L-Lysine before and after the treatment, we unfortunately cannot carry out the treatment. L-Lysine can only be used in tablet form, because applying a liquid form to the open wound of the lips after placing Lip Blush is not an option. Only the aftercare may be used on the lips for 7–9 days, and nothing else.
What is an intake form?
IZZI Brows works with an intake form to safeguard all safety requirements. This means IZZI Brows does not treat under certain circumstances. This is reviewed with you before the treatment via the intake form. All the details you fill in are and always remain private.
What about a guarantee on the treatment?
After the Lip Blush treatment you are always entitled to a touch-up treatment after 6–8 weeks. We do not treat earlier than that, because otherwise the healing process is still ongoing. After the touch-up treatment you still have a guarantee for up to 2 weeks. If something is not to your liking, or has faded too quickly, you can come by by arrangement.
What's the difference between a Lip Blush treatment now and an old lip tattoo?
Lip Blush is a name for pigmenting your lips. Pigmenting is comparable to tattooing, except with pigmenting the ink is applied with a needle into the top skin layer, whereas tattooing goes into the 3rd skin layer (much deeper). The old tattoo technique for lips was often experienced as very painful and also caused a lot of scar tissue or damage to the lip skin. With today's Lip Blush treatment this is no longer the case, and you can enjoy beautiful lips worry-free.
How does Lip Blush fade?
Lip Blush fades almost evenly after a number of years. You keep the nicest result between the first treatment and 2.5 to 3 years. When the Lip Blush treatment has been placed correctly and evenly everywhere, it will also lighten evenly everywhere. So you won't be left with patches of colour and areas where the Lip Blush has already gone completely.
