PMU Eyeliner Aftercare

How to care for your permanent eyeliner in the days after the treatment.

Good aftercare following an eyeliner treatment is essential for a long-lasting and beautiful result.

PMU Eyeliner Aftercare: Instructions for an Optimal Result

It is very important that you provide the right aftercare for your eyeliner, also known as infralash. For a beautiful and long-lasting result, it is important that the healing runs as well as possible.

After a semi-permanent make-up treatment, your skin is vulnerable and recovering. With good aftercare, you can easily prevent infections and pigment loss. By following the right steps, you ensure that the pigment adheres well and your eyeliner looks radiant for a long time.

Permanent Eyeliner Aftercare Day 1 to 9

You naturally want to keep your fresh permanent eyeliner or infralash beautiful for as long as possible. Therefore, follow these aftercare instructions carefully during the first 9 days.

Avoid aggressive products: Do not use creams or cleansing products with ingredients such as Retinol, Glycolic acid or Salicylic acid. These can disrupt the healing process.

  • Keep the skin clean:
  • Gently wash the treated area twice a day with lukewarm water and unscented soap and avoid sweat.
  • After washing, gently pat the area dry with a clean tissue (do not rub!).
  • Do not touch the skin: Your PMU eyeliner is an open wound and susceptible to infections. Do not touch the treated area with your hands.
  • No make-up: Do not use eye make-up, such as mascara or eyeliner, until the scabs are fully healed. Make-up can irritate the skin and cause infections.
  • Leave scabs alone: Let scabs come off naturally. Scratching or picking can cause scars, pigment loss and delayed healing.
  • No UV radiation or heat: Avoid exposure to the sun, tanning beds, saunas and steam baths for the first 4 weeks. UV radiation can affect the pigment.
  • No contact lenses: Do not wear contact lenses in the first week after the treatment to prevent irritation.
  • Hygiene is important: Do not sleep on your face to prevent scabs from coming off. Use a clean pillowcase to prevent infections.

Aftercare after the first healing

After 1 week, the scabs are usually fully healed, but this can still take about 9 days. There are also a few extra tips to keep your PMU eyeliner beautiful for longer:

  • Sun protection: Always use a sunscreen with SPF 30+ to protect the pigment against UV radiation.
  • Regular touch-up: Schedule a touch-up follow-up treatment 6-8 weeks after the first session to perfect the colour and shape.
  • Long-term maintenance: For the best result, an annual touch-up is recommended.

Frequently asked questions

What happens after a PMU Eyeliner Treatment?

If you have had a permanent eyeliner or infralash treatment, there are a number of things you can expect. Slight swelling and/or redness: Your eyelids may be somewhat swollen and red immediately after the treatment. This is normal and decreases within 24 hours. Intense colour: The eyeliner may look darker and more intense in the first few days. After a week, the colour will become softer and more natural. Scabs: Small scabs may form during the healing process. It is crucial not to remove these and not to touch them, as this can lead to pigment loss and infections.

1. How long does the healing of PMU eyeliner take?

The first healing of permanent make-up eyeliner takes 7-10 days, but the skin continues to stabilise over several weeks. After a month, the end result is fully visible.

2. Can I shower after my PMU eyeliner treatment?

Yes. Gently wash the treated area twice a day with lukewarm water and unscented soap and then pat it dry. Avoid hot, steamy showers during the first days.

3. What should I do if I have scabs?

Let scabs come off on their own and do not touch them. Scratching off scabs can cause pigment loss and scars.

4. When can I wear mascara after permanent make-up?

After an infralash treatment, you can apply mascara again after 10 days.
