PMU Eyebrow Aftercare: Instructions for Beautiful Powder Brows

The right aftercare following a Powder Brows treatment is crucial to let the healing process run smoothly and to achieve the desired end result of full and natural eyebrows.

After a semi-permanent make-up treatment, your eyebrows are vulnerable and more sensitive. You can compare this to a graze. With the right aftercare, you prevent infections, pigment loss and other complications, which is especially important with powder brows aftercare.

Permanent Eyebrow Aftercare Day 1 to 9

Follow these aftercare instructions carefully during the first nine days to prevent infections and achieve the best result. The powder brows aftercare in this period is essential for a successful recovery.

Day 1–2: Cleaning and caring

  • Clean every hour: Gently clean the eyebrows with a damp cotton pad soaked in cooled boiled water. Dab the skin gently, without rubbing.
  • Applying aftercare ointment: After cleaning, apply a thin layer of aftercare cream with a clean cotton swab.

Day 3–9: Keeping clean and protecting

  • Wash thoroughly: wash the eyebrows twice a day with lukewarm water and unscented soap and pat them dry with a clean towel, without rubbing.
  • No make-up: Do not use eyebrow make-up or other cosmetics on the treated area until all scabs have disappeared.
  • Do not remove scabs: Let scabs and flakes come off on their own. Scratching or picking can lead to pigment loss. You naturally want to avoid this!
  • Clean environment: Sleep on a clean pillowcase and avoid contact with pets or dirt.

Aftercare after the First Healing

After about 7–10 days, the scabs have disappeared and the second phase of healing begins. During this period, you can do the following to maintain your results:

  • Use sun protection: Protect your eyebrows with a sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher.
  • Schedule a touch-up: After 6–8 weeks, you come back for a follow-up treatment to fill in light spots and perfect the colour.
  • Stay careful: Even after full healing, the skin remains sensitive. Avoid harsh cleansing products and keep protecting your eyebrows against UV radiation.

Healing Time for PMU Eyebrows

For more information, we have created a special overview of powder brows healing from day to day.

  • Week 1: The eyebrows heal superficially and scabs gradually fall off.
  • Week 2–4: The pigment may temporarily look faded. This stabilises and becomes visible in the following weeks.
  • Week 6–8: The colour has fully stabilised. This is the moment for a touch-up treatment.

Frequently asked questions

What Happens after a PMU Eyebrow Treatment?

After a PMU eyebrow treatment, you can expect the following reactions: Intense colour: Immediately after the treatment, the eyebrows look darker than the final result. This is normal and the colour will become softer and more natural during the healing process. Scabs: After a few days, small scabs may form. It is important to leave these alone and not pull them off. Pigment loss: During the first healing of your powder brows, it may seem as if pigment has disappeared. This is a normal process; the pigment gradually becomes visible again in the following weeks. Slight redness or swelling: This may occur after the treatment, but disappears within 24 to 48 hours.

What Should you Avoid after a PMU Eyebrow Treatment?

To maintain the results of your Powder Brows, avoid the following things. These steps are among the most important aspects of powder brows aftercare: Sweat and heat: Do not exercise for 5 days. Sweat contains salts that can reject pigment. Avoid saunas, steam baths, swimming pools and other humid spaces for 2 weeks. UV radiation: Do not expose your eyebrows to direct sunlight or tanning beds for 4 weeks. After healing, use an SPF 30+ cream to protect the pigmentation. Aggressive products: Do not use creams or tonics with Retinol, Glycolic acid, Salicylic acid or other aggressive ingredients. Facial treatments: Avoid facial treatments, chemical peels, Botox or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks. Scratching or rubbing: Leave scabs alone. Pulling them off can cause infections, scars or uneven pigment.

1. How long does the healing of PMU eyebrows take?

The superficial healing takes 7–10 days. The full healing process, including colour stabilisation, can take up to 8 weeks.

2. Can I get my eyebrows wet after the treatment?

Yes — in fact: wash your eyebrows twice a day with lukewarm water and unscented soap. A wound that stays clean heals better. Then pat them dry with a clean towel and avoid hot, steamy showers.

3. What should I do if scabs form?

Let the scabs come off on their own. Do not scratch or pull them off, as this can cause pigment loss or scars.

4. When can I use make-up on my eyebrows again?

Only use make-up on your eyebrows after all scabs have fallen off and the skin has fully healed. This usually takes 10 days.

5. Why should I schedule a touch-up?

A touch-up after 6–8 weeks ensures that light spots are filled in and the colour and shape of your eyebrows are perfected.
