How to get a permanent natural eyelash curl

Natural lashes that are permanently curled can be achieved through professional lash lift treatments, though at-home kits carry significant risks of damage.

How to get a permanent natural eyelash curl

Can you permanently curl natural lashes yourself?

Let’s get straight to the point: there are ways to permanently curl your own natural lashes at home. So do it yourself! You might think that at first, but unfortunately the treatment requires a lot of knowledge and skill. If you use one of the products excessively or too quickly, you can seriously damage your natural eyelashes. You do it with a Lash Lift kit: a package with all the equipment you need to permanently curl eyelashes. You can often buy one online. Are you thinking, what the hell, I’m just going to do it? Then always watch a tutorial for the product in question, and our best tip is: do it one eye at a time. If something goes wrong, at least you can still see with the other one…

Only kidding, of course! We definitely do not advise doing this type of treatment yourself. As much as you want it, wait until you can go to a salon with a trained lash stylist. Not only is it nice to look after your eyelashes properly, but the risks that lash lifts carry are still considerable. What happens if Lash Lift liquid gets into your eye? What should you do then, and what can it cause? These are all things you should consider.

So we really do not encourage the kits that are sold for using on your own natural eyelashes in the living room! What we do encourage is training to carry out a Lash Lift treatment on someone in the right way. Even a short course so that you can give, for example, just your mother, aunt and sisters a permanent curl in their lashes is worth it. Why? You don’t want to make a job of it? You can, but the course already pays for itself after 3 treatments!

Is permanently curling eyelashes bad?

As we just told you, curling eyelashes permanently in the living room can be bad if you don’t have the right knowledge. But is permanently curling lashes with a lash lift treatment bad at all? Let’s start by explaining that natural lashes renew every 6 to 8 weeks in each person. This is called the natural growth cycle of a hair. The hair emerges from the hair follicle, grows into its longest and strongest version, and then falls out again. This process repeats itself constantly. There are a number of medicines and other factors that can cause natural eyelashes to fall out earlier or that affect the growth process. When this is the case, a Lash Lift treatment can also suffer as a result.

As long as the rules of the brand used for a Lash Lift treatment are followed, the consequences will be minor. The most common rule is: no more than 1 Lash Lift treatment every 4 weeks on the same client. So the stylist may not repeat it within 4 weeks of the last Lash Lift treatment. As long as this rule is followed, a Lash Lift can do very little damage to the natural lashes.

But there is one caveat: is the stylist experienced and alert enough before and during the treatment to carry it out without causing any damage? You can often tell from the experiences of other clients and from the general information on websites and social media. The more active someone is in the field, the greater the chance that they carry out the treatment daily and therefore have more experience.

Anything done to excess is considered bad. The same applies to the treatment for a permanent curl in the natural lashes. Remember that!

How permanent is permanent eyelash curling?

Perhaps you have experience with it: permanent make-up. Something with the word “permanent” in its very name, yet it actually isn’t. Because of the growth cycle explained above, you can assume that something like permanent eyelash curling does not truly exist. It is permanent for all the weeks until the hair falls out naturally. Then a new hair has to be treated again.

Permanently curled lashes are therefore not curled permanently. Partly, but not forever. The nice thing is that you only need another treatment every 6 to 8 weeks. So you really get to enjoy your curled lashes for 2 months!

There is also aftercare advice. At a professional salon you will receive an aftercare form or brochure. It shows what you can and cannot do with your eyelashes in the period that follows, to get the most out of the treatment. If you stick to it strictly, the treatment should set well (it continues to work for 24 hours after the treatment) and should stay in place.

In addition, some salons also sell the brand’s lotion 3 as optimal aftercare. Lotion 3 contains keratin, which is what a hair is originally made of. The more the hair is stimulated with it, the better the treatment will work.

Cost of permanently curling your lashes

As long as the treatment works well and you are happy with it, you can decide for yourself whether it is worth what you spend on it and how long the treatment lasts.

Salons base their prices on costs: staff costs, rent, purchasing costs and other additional costs of running a salon. Want to know more about how to start your own business in the eyelash world? Then read this blog.

The cost of permanently curling your eyelashes with a Lash Lift treatment varies between €45 and €70. This differs per brand and salon. It is not really a big difference, because prices for eyelash extensions, for example, vary more than those for a Lash Lift.

Aren’t eyelash extensions cheaper than permanent eyelash curls or lash treatments?

A frequently asked question is whether eyelash extensions are cheaper and “longer lasting” than a Lash Lift treatment. We can answer this with: no. In our opinion, eyelash extensions and a Lash Lift treatment are not really comparable anyway. Take a good look at the next photo.

Eyelash extensions really meet a different need than just a curl in the natural lashes. Do you have long natural eyelashes, either naturally or from a growth serum? Then you are lucky! Because you often don’t need much more than that. When someone lacks volume on one of their eyes, does not want to use mascara, wants length or an open look, they usually opt for eyelash extensions.

Eyelash extensions applied at IZZI Lashes: thanks to the glue we offer, the best retention, and the extremely soft eyelash extensions adhere to the natural hair for a very long time. So with a volume treatment you can already enjoy them for about 4 to 6 weeks before you need a fill. This is therefore “shorter” than a Lash Lift treatment, where clients on average only opt for another Lash Lift treatment after 6 to 8 weeks.

The advantages of the two are therefore completely different and remain a personal choice. But in principle we can conclude that eyelash extensions are not cheaper in terms of duration and cost compared to a Lash Lift treatment.

Curl and dye eyelashes permanently

You can easily have your lashes tinted during a treatment. The tint is applied between the lotion steps. You can often choose from a certain colour of tint. If you have blonde lashes, you might consider brown tint for your natural lashes. But that isn’t necessary: do you really want to stop using mascara altogether? Then a Lash Lift with black tint gives you an even better result than having brown tint applied and still having to put on mascara every day. In the end, the tint fades faster than the Lash Lift treatment lasts. You can choose to have your eyelashes tinted again 3 weeks after the Lash Lift treatment. The Lash Lift treatment is still good enough and should not be repeated earlier, but the tint can be!

There is also a black-blue tint: black tint with a blue sheen. And believe it or not, this gives more depth and volume to your lashes! Check out the results below for yourself!

Permanent eyelash curl experiences

Of course, everyone will experience a treatment differently. This is simply because there are a great many brands and salons in the world. Each brand has a different treatment method, though they often partly overlap. But for now, most lash lift treatments each have their own unique method. It is of course good to read up, as you are already doing through this blog. But do you really want to compare experiences of lash lift treatments?
