Quite a lot goes into Ombré Powder Brows. You cannot just book an appointment and get started. Powder Brows last about 4 years, and sometimes even longer. That is why you want to come to your appointment with some ideas about how you would like your eyebrows to look.
We explain step by step what this treatment involves and how we work at IZZI Brows. Interested in a treatment? Take a look at the permanent make-up Ombré Powder Brows page.
1. Think and look for examples of what you find beautiful
You can find examples of eyebrows everywhere. On Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook and online on Google Images. Look at what you would find beautiful on yourself. This is a big difference from something you find beautiful on another person. If you know that you do not like sharp and tight shapes, but you do find this beautiful in a photo on someone else, then do not bring this with you. It is not something that suits you and that you ultimately want to achieve. Look at several options and discuss these during the consultation (intake).
2. Schedule a consultation (intake)
What happens during a consultation (intake) for powder brows permanent make-up?
During a consultation we listen to your wishes and look at your examples together. We discuss what you exactly want to achieve and why you would like to choose the powder brows. We also explain to you what we can offer and how the process works.
We discuss all the questions you have and advise you fully in every possible situation. We also go through a contraindication form together. If everything is fine, we can treat. We then schedule an appointment for your treatment. We can also schedule a touch-up appointment that day. This is a follow-up appointment after the 1st treatment to see after 6 – 8 weeks how the eyebrows have healed. At the touch-up we can also put the finishing touches in place. A touch-up is not always necessary. But to make the powder brows last a full 4 years, we always advise you to come for the touch-up. This second treatment is included in the price.
You have old permanent make-up that is too visible. The new salon will not be able to cover the colour properly, or the salon does not want to cover old PMU at all. This happens a lot! If you then book a consultation, unfortunately you will lose your money.
The shape of the old PMU is too visible. Clients with old PMU often come in. If the shape is still too visible and the client would prefer a different shape, this is often difficult to achieve. The salon may then decide not to treat.
If a client has too many doubts. Salons often do not treat if there is too much doubt about things during the consultation. Salons take responsibility for the fact that powder brows last for a number of years and that removing PMU only brings more work and costs.
If you have a contraindication. Contraindications are always gone through with you when you have a consultation. These are simply points for which treatment is not allowed. Think of: being pregnant, breastfeeding, a blood-clotting disease, chemo, etc.
You can usually schedule a consultation online at the salon. Often a fee of €50 is charged for this. If you and the salon decide to treat the eyebrows, this 50 euros will be deducted from the treatment price. Please note: sometimes a salon decides not to treat. Why?
3. Draw the shape
In addition to listening to what your wishes are, and what we think suits your face, we measure the eyebrows according to the standards. We have 3 different methods for this. Which technique we choose depends entirely on how your eyebrows already look themselves, what your face shape is and which shape you would like to achieve.
Below is an example of one of the ways we measure.
So, as we already explained: we have 3 ways of drawing. This really depends entirely on what shape you want to achieve, etc. After we have drawn the shape we can still adjust everything. We look with you when you sit upright, lie down and which side is your dominant side of your face. We do not start treating until you are satisfied and agree with the chosen shape.
4. Pigment choice
Choosing pigment is very difficult if you do not know anything about it yourself. You do not know how the pigments will turn out, whether the pigments are cool or warm, and what that actually means. Fortunately, we specialise in this! Besides knowing of every colour whether it has a cool or warm undertone, we also know very well how a colour turns out on a certain skin colour. In addition, we also look at your natural hair colour, your dyed hair colour, your eyes, your skin colour and even your pores.
In the example below you can see how we place pigments on a client.
On the left is a warm pigment, on the right a cool pigment. If we only used the right-hand colour, the end result would be extremely warm and red. If we only used the left-hand colour, her eyebrows would become very dark and dull, and the eyebrows would stand out more than anything else.
Because her hair colour is quite warm and her eyes light, but her eyebrow hairs quite dark, we made a mix of the colours. In fact, we mix pigments 95% of the time. This is how we achieve the result we are looking for. A touch-up treatment is then there to make a colour a little deeper or darker, should it heal too bright and light.
We take a great deal of time to determine the shape and choose the right pigments. We of course do this together with the client. But we do advise you as much as possible, because we have experience and know how a colour turns out.
We do prefer to work too light rather than too dark. If we work too dark, the result can become very dull. In addition, dark pigment is harder to correct than light pigment. Also keep in mind that warmth disappears completely within a week. We sometimes add warmth to a colour because, for example, you have warmth in your skin colour or hair colour. If we did not add warmth, a colour would always turn out very dull. And since powder brows should give a natural look, we naturally want the end result not to turn out dull.
5. The treatment
The treatment is only carried out when approval has been given on the drawn shape and the chosen pigment. When we start a treatment, we always explain how we work. We also explain to you what an anaesthetic does and when we use it.
The treatment is often experienced as very mild. An anaesthetic is also often used. The anaesthetic is simply a gel that is applied when the skin is open. This absorbs within 2-3 minutes, and after that you feel nothing at all anymore.
Step-by-step plan powder brows treatment:
When the eyebrows are ready, you can look in the mirror and still pass on adjustments should this be needed.
After that you receive an aftercare form, and how you treat the eyebrows during aftercare is up to you.
We make an outline with our PMU machine (these are only the lines of the shape).
The eyebrow is coloured in once with pixels (the PMU machine touches the skin once each time and leaves pixels behind).
After that, anaesthetic is applied. This is a gel that can sting a little. The gel can only be applied when the skin is open.
While the anaesthetic absorbs into one eyebrow, we place the outline and colour in the other eyebrow. Then we apply anaesthetic to this eyebrow as well.
After that it is a matter of colouring in the eyebrows with pixels. Because the anaesthetic has had enough time to absorb, the client will feel virtually nothing.
After the eyebrows are finished, the skin is cleaned. And we let the eyebrows dry.
6. Aftercare
If you have had Lip Blush, for example, it is also advised not to eat salty food after the treatment. Salt largely dissolves pigment. That is why, when we want to remove old pigment, we do not work with a laser technique but with a saline solution. Instead of a pigment colour, we pigment a saline solution into the skin, which makes the old pigment dissolve.
On the GGD website you can find what proper aftercare is. In addition, a salon should give you this as standard after a treatment so you can go through it again at home.
The better your aftercare, the longer you enjoy the treatment. Would you like to book a treatment? Then click here.

The aftercare of powder brows is extremely important. If you do not follow the aftercare rules, the pigment can largely dissolve. For example, it is advised not to sunbathe, swim in salt water or undergo peels within 7 -14 days. All these factors cause the pigment to dissolve more quickly.
