How is a tattoo removed by laser?

We remove tattoos using our advanced YAG laser. This is one of the best-known and most reliable lasers for removing pigment from the skin. Because the YAG laser goes deeper than other lasers, it can also remove incorrectly placed tattoos (placed too deep in the skin) that have started to migrate in a very effective way.

The Yag laser, also called the Q Switched laser, is generally regarded as the gold standard for removing tattoos and permanent make-up. By generating enormous pulses, a unique laser-tissue interaction is created in the skin. The pigment is encapsulated into small particles, so that it disappears from the skin more quickly.

What does a laser tattoo removal treatment look like?

In the video you can clearly see how we work when removing unwanted tattoos. The unwanted tattoo is removed within a very short time by laser. It takes a few seconds to remove a small area of the tattoo with the laser.

During a consultation (intake) we determine roughly how many treatments will be needed, which package is best for you and what the aftercare involves. We will then schedule all the sessions.

How many sessions are needed to laser away a tattoo?

Every old and unwanted tattoo is different. That is why we cannot say in advance how many treatments are needed on average to laser the old tattoo.

During a consultation (intake) we can look at the unwanted tattoo and see the condition of the skin. We also determine the size of the tattoo. We discuss your wishes and explain the aftercare clearly. We then draw up a treatment plan. That way you know exactly how many sessions will be needed and what the rest period between each treatment is.

Besides scheduling the sessions, we also offer packages. Taking a package is more economical than assessing the situation after each laser treatment and then booking individual treatments. Of course, both options are possible with us.

The course of a Tattoo Laser Treatment

Removing a tattoo by laser happens in steps. We are happy to explain these steps so that it is clear what you can expect.

Step 1: We start by discussing your wishes and looking at the possibilities for you personally. We also discuss what the skin looks like at that moment and what reaction of the skin can be expected.

Step 2: We will then draw up a treatment plan and schedule a first session. Sometimes this can be done straight after the consultation. We determine the size of the tattoo and the associated costs.

Step 3: When we see you again after the first session, once it has healed, we can say more about what to expect based on how the skin has recovered after the first session and how much pigment has gone after 1 session. At this point you can also choose a package so that you are not tied to individual sessions. Package prices are more economical than individual treatment sessions.

Step 4: After the first treatment, we also clearly explain what the aftercare involves and what you need to take into account.

How do you prepare for a tattoo laser treatment?

Below we discuss the steps you are best off following once you have scheduled a laser treatment.

From 1 week before the treatment you may no longer use a sunbed. It is also better not to have peels or microneedling if the tattoo is on the face.

It is very important that you do not take any alcohol, painkillers, drugs or blood-thinning medication within 24 hours before the treatment. Caffeine may also not be consumed up to 4 hours before the treatment. Caffeine includes: coffee, tea (theine), energy drinks and soft drinks such as cola.

We ask you to adhere very strictly to the rules above, because otherwise they negatively affect the laser treatment.
